Although a recent NIH study showed that 10 of accidents on playgrounds are due to fighting among its occupants, a large majority of accidents in playgrounds lead to fractures of the extremities or concussion of the brain when swings, slides, climging frames, metal bars and merry-go-round as well as others fail for some unforseen reason. Rope-plank-type swings are frequently involved in backward falling accidents and many slide accidents are fall accidents.
